I'm so proud of myself! Chris, I took your description and created an
imaginary switch plate (60 seconds). On this, I drew several countours: 1
curved line, 2 straight lines, and 1 diagonal line (30 seconds). Then, I
went into the CAM program and defined my cutter (20 seconds). Finally, I
assigned text to each of the contours and pressed "Go" to watch the text
being generated along my coutours. It worked!

Next, I changed the alignment of the text and redrew everything (2 seconds
to do, 30 seconds to watch)

FInally, I selected various operations and typed in new text withing
changing any other settings. I pressed go and watched the new text replace
the old.

I don't have a vcutter so I have not yet tested the G code but I can tell
you that the process was easy to get there. Much easier than I ever
imagined.

I would encourage you to get in touch with Bill Griffen (the US Dolphin
Rep) and get a demo so that you can try this yourself.

Example, Imagine engraving text on a switch tag. I generally have the shape
of the switch tag drawn on screen, then I will type a word or phrase and
place it in a preffered location. I am able to
"center the text" using typical text alignment methods, then place the text
in the center of the part. After engraving, If I highlight the old text, I
can re-type a NEW word and it will self center
itself on the part, and I can send out the code to the machine and do it
over and over and over and over......... you get the idea.

(looking at options... as I am not overwhelmingly impressed with
TurboCad/Cam....... well, other than the price.)
