They are actually talking about the encoding on the radio link not the
encoding from the receiver to the servo. The normal terms on the radio link
is PCM or PPM, but not PWM. Both systems encode the signal from the receiver
to the servo in the same way, which as someone pointed out is to vary the
width of a repetitive pulse and having the pulse width represent the servo
position.
Now with all that said, can we either drop this topic or get it back to
actual computer controlled machines? Unless someone is crazy enough to want
to control their mill/lathe/router/etc using an RC transmitter and receiver
this is pretty seriously off topic. May be applicable to robots, but this is
not the robot group.
