RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Side effects to running servo motors 1:1 ???

The shoptask uses a 42 tooth timing belt pulley on their leadscrew. If
you have a servo motor such as the ones that Jeff Davis and Bill
Wainright sell then you can easily use a 14XL037 timing pulley with a
150XL037 timing belt. This will give you a 3/1 ratio and plenty of
power.
I have done this on a Shoptask that was lent to me for 3 months and it
worked great. The motors are 420 oz in peak torque and ran barely warm
on 36VDC. It isn't hard to make a motor mount for C23 frame motors and
they seem to be the best solution for the shoptask machine.
A 1:1 ratio may work for a short time if you have the original acme
leadscrews and run it quite slowly.

it would be easier right now to run the servo motors 1:1 instead of
3:1 or 4:1 as recommended.

for a short period of time, any problems with doing this?

i'm not worried about speed or torque (as long as the motors can move
the X/Y)
