No. Most people use inflated holding torque ratings so they can get
usable running torque at
medium speeds. On a servo, the running torque=holding torque up to
nearly the top speed,
at the voltage limit of the power supply. So, you can live with a servo
system with continuous
torque rating much lower than the stepper's holding torque. In the
above example, a servo
with 100 in/Oz of continuous torque would probably work fine. It would
likely have a peak
torque rating of 400 In/Oz for 1 second or so. Steppers have no feature
like a servo's peak
torque.
