Thanks for the link... I will have a closer look at acme screws. I
had assumed that they would be to pricey, so thanks

I have been to some power tool stores, and am looking at a smaller
variable speed router motor as the spindle motor. It is circular,
and well suited to attaching to the z axis, as it has mounting for
attaching the router guides and handles.
