CHuck, This would be an excellent question to post to the folks at
Dolphin. If I recall correctly, they have a background with the original
Renishaw probe company. They might be able to give you some input. (Pun
intended)

Subject: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Windows Step/Dir driver for coordinate measurements
Having recently purchased Dolphin CAD/CAM I have been thinking about its
ability to run VB add-ins.
A demo shipped with Dolphin shows a VB macro in Excel that takes Excel
data
and draws a cam profile in PartMaster CAD. I have been thinking that if I
could output step/direction pulses to my Ahha RC-500 stepper driver from
VB
and accept a 'contact' input I could digitize contours, etc. using my
mill.
I know that I can do this with Ahha Artisan (DOS based) but using VB would
allow me to load the data directly into a drawing for manipulation into a
new part drawing and then to PartMaster CAM to produce the part.
So: Anyone know of a simple parallel port driver that is accessible from
VB
that supports both input and output?
Cheers,
