Hi Barclay. I had a look at your picture and everything seems ok.
Yes the motor should be locked when the gecko is powered up. Is it?
From what I can tell, it looks as though you have the dir line on
parallel port pin4 and the step line to parallel port pin5. Make sure
that your software is set for these settings and that you are trying
to move the correct axis. Also make sure that your maximum speed and
acceleration are not set beyond the motors capabilities. The +5V line
looks ok. Are you positive you have the wiring of the motor phases
correct? If you need to know how to figure out the wiring of the
motor, email me at axxus@... and I tell you how. If the software
is set up correctly, and the motor phases are correct and you are
still having trouble, then email me and we can try some other things.
For dos software, you could try turbocnc from
http://www.dakeng.com/turbo.htm
or you could try a demo of deskncdos or cncpro
http://www.deskam.com/
http://www.yeagerautomation.com/
For Win2K try the Mach1 demo
http://www.artofcnc.ca/
