DC Brushless Motors and Drives

I have an opportunity to buy some very good DC brushless servo motors
for my Bridgeport retrofit project. However, the motors will be
little more than paper weights unless I have drives and a
controller. Since Gecko's drives arn't anywhere on the horizon, is
there any other cost effective solutions out there for brusless
drives and controllers? I need to make a decision promptly, so any
feedback is greatly appreciated.
