Nothing lasts forever, but I expect that the G201 will last a very long
time.
To arranged to achieve optimized functionality and lifetime I would thing
that airflow would be on top of the list. First of all use a heatsink
compound when you attach a 201 to a heatsink. If your current is over 2
amps make sure that you use a heatsink. I also use a fan to blow on the
heatsink. I have had problems when my fan stopped working. The G201 did not
burn out, but it did miss steps. Once I replaces the fan it all worked fine.
