Where to find CNC machines with dead controls?

Any suggestions on finding these bargains? I'm new to CNC, and would
love to be able to acquire some old iron at a resonable price. Where
should I start looking? I'd bet you don't usually see adds in the
newspapers for this sort of thing. Should I just call all the shops
in the Denver area?
I just need to know where to hang out so I can be in the right place
at the right time.
Thanks,
