Don't overlook asking local shops directly. You'd be surprised how long
a dead machine can sit in the corner of a machine shop. I know several
shops that rent storage spaces and often will tuck away a dead machine
until they have time to "mess with it". That time often never shows up.
If you do contact shops directly, it couldn't hurt to mention you are a
hobbyist and are not looking to do commercial work.
