I want to build a jib or swing arm type crane to handle lathe chucks and milling fixtures in my shop. What recommendations would you have? Have any of you built anything like this for your shops? I want to make it to handle only about 200-300# since that is as big as I can imagine I will need to lift at this time. Work area around my machines is too tight for a fork lift and I cannot get a a cherry picker's base under the lathe bed. I was thinking about something mounted behind the lathe and or mills or from the ceiling.
Any advice is taken as very much appreciated.
