I'd think that you have to keep working at it. I'm using a Sherline mill
with the Camtronics board - 20 tpi x 400 step/rev = 8000 step/inch and the
movement is just as it should be. I'd suspect that, somewhere along the way,
you're consistently dropping steps. You might want to try setting your
velocity extremely low and see if reality matches the calculation.
