I suspect the part is shifting toward the end of the machining. It sounds
like you're carving out the profile of the c-rod. If so, make a fixture
that will allow you to clamp the stock while you machine the pin & crank
holes, then clamp the stock down through the pin & crank holes, then remove
the auxilliary clamps, and finish the rest of the profile.
