out a possible failure mode, and something to check. I seem to remember
that the drive in question has had a fet replaced before, and in the
process, the plate may have been scratched. Without a doubt, if there were
continuity between the base plate and the fet, this would be a bad thing.
I've killed fets before by accidently shorting the mounting tab of the fet
to ground. Just trying to share a lesson I learned the hard way... (and
not with Geckos. I've never had a problem with any of my Geckos. I'll buy
more when the need arises).
