Hi Dave
Thanks for your answer - 25 years ago I took my electronics degree so I
should be qualified to take a look at your design - but after almost 20
years of working with management and almost without any electronics practice
both in job and at home in the same period, I have to realize that my
qualification is purely theoretical.
That's one of the reasons why I now have taken up mechanics and electronics
as a hobby - I have bought/built myself a fairly complete workshop for metal
and wood and I want to combine this with my interest in electronics. I
currently building a CNC router/PCB drill. It is a fascinating project.
It was an article in the Machinist Workshop last autumn about EDM that got
to me - The company I working in do have several professional wire and sink
EDM's and I have always looked at those machines and accepted the technology
to be very complex. I was a bit enlightened (surprised) when I was
presented for the design of an EDM circuit in Machinist Workshop - a circuit
consisting of a rectifier, some capacitors and a couple light bulbs and
there it was - a home shop EDM -an amazing and demystifying experience!
I am very interested in exchanging information regarding your EDM experience
and would very much like to look at your designs, both the electronically
and mechanical designs.
