Whatever it's running is probably a version of Windows or an OS (or
DOS) that doesn't have a CDROM driver built in. (XP does).

You'll have to get some drivers. You need a driver generally specific
to your CD drive, will go into config.sys, and the Microsoft CD
services driver to go into the autoexec.bat.

CHeck an existing similar OS system that has one, look in the
config.sys files and autoexec files.

Win98SE can be booted from the CD, but you must have a newer computer
that supports booting from the CD in the bios.

It should run then.

If you have a rescue disk from win98 or so, then boot up on that,
select the "boot with CDROM support" and that should give you a DOS
running that understands the CDROM.
