I have used OEM650 drives in the past but the 650X, if I remember correctly,
is not a step and direction drive. Any drives Compumotor makes with an 'X'
in the name is a drive that uses Compumotors X language. It is a 'smart'
drive and you send it commands from the serial port, not step and direction
pulses from the parallel port. I think, but am not sure, that you can remove
the indexer board from the 650X and turn it into a 650, but I'll leave that
to you to decide. Here is a link to the manual on Compumotor's website
