Ok....now a little 101 here....turbocnc is the controller software?.

[Right- it's a very inexpensive controller program that most people seem
pretty happy with.]

Say
turbocad is the drafting...now CAM? Not sure what that is yet....is that
the
tool and tool path generator that creates the g-code for the controller
software.....oh brother....I guess if you don't know just ask..hehe.

[Yes, TurboCAD (no relation to TurboCNC) is a CAD (Computer Assisted Design)
package, which draws in lines and curves. It comes in lots of flavors (and
prices) including a version called TurboCADCAM which includes a toolpath
generating module. This adds CAM (Computer Assisted Machining) functionality
to the drawing program. It writes "G-code" that instructs a controller
program like TurboCNC to send pulses to the motors of a CNC (Computer
Numeric Controlled) mill, causing it to cut in 2d (lines and curves) and
2.5d, which adds "pocketing", carving out an area enclosed by a closed shape
(composed of 2d lines and curves). At $450 (my price), it's a pretty good
deal for a package that does both CAD and CAM, although its abilities at
either are limited in comparison with more advanced packages, which can make
surfaced 3d models and cut true 3d parts.]

Figuring you do not have high power requirements ?

Xylotex to run the steppers.
TurboCNC for the software
E-bay or similar for steppers. read the specs on Xylotex and the
white paper on power supplies to understand how to get the best
motors. (less than 3 volts, 5 amps( run is series for 2.5 amp load)
MPJA for the transformer/power supply.

3 motors/3 driver - probably everything for under $200.00

of course, you wll need to buy linear slides and screws and motor
couplings, but that can be dirt cheap or second mortgage stuff.
