I recently went throught the same process your going through. I
looked at a bunch of CAD programs and Rhino was by far the most
appealing to me. It can export STL (and DFX) files which are
accepted by most CAM programs. As far as what CAM software to buy, I
havent decided yet either. I really, really like Visual Mill, but
I'd like to have something a little cheaper. I went with a Taig
mill, the Xylotex board, Pac-sci steppers and a MPJA power supply.
