Graham,
These are off the shelf gearboxes brought in from Italy. They are
very well made and the backlash is negligible.
I didn't spot the bit about the Proxxon until Tony mentioned about
size. Even this may be a bit big for your job.
Just had a look thru the box of bit tonight and found this:-

It's a lot smaller, the shaft is 3/8" diameter by 1 3/4" long.
Without counting I think it's a 60:1.
The stepper isn't fitted, it's just for show.
