Hmmm that's odd. I mic'ed several different manufacturers pieces of 5/8
nominal ballscrew stock and it all measured .613 to .614 Diameter.
My advise would be to measure the ballscrew first then bore the end
pieces for a tight fit.
My end pieces were 1.125 Diameter so that it would fit through the Y
axis hole in the frame with good clearance.
I use to machine the ends of the ballscrews but found that simply making
the new end pieces bored to fit the ballscrews works fine without runout
if everything is machined properly. Make sure that if you make end
pieces that your thrust face diameter will contact the thrust bearing
and not drag against the end pieces.
