Chris, you might look at a point of sale display also. you know those
things that you see at the 7-11 bolted to the counter that shows you
the price. I picked one up at a computer swap show for about $5.00,
hooks to the serial port, and has 2 lines of large bright red
alphanumeric characters. Would work great for X and Y axis only though
since it has only two lines. It's even the right shape with a pole
mount.
