You set the MAX_VELOCITY in all 3 axis sections and in the TRAJ section.
The TRAJ one should be about 1.5X the largest in the individual axis
sections. Acceleration is controlled by the DEFAULT_ACCELERATION setting
in the TRAJ section. I was once told by one of the original NIST
developers that the MAX_ACCELERATION parameter is not used in machining
application so to just set it to the same value as the default.

Remember units are units/second so if you are in inch mode a setting of
1 in MAX_VELOCITY will give you 1 inch/second or 60 ipm. I believe the
default acceleration setting when you install is 20 and in my experience
steppers usually end up in the 1 - 5 range.
