Re: convert drawing to cad file

Despite the good advice you have already received, I'll add one more. Corel
Draw is fairly good at this and earlier versions readily and legaly
available at reasonable prices.. I've used it extensively for more than 10
years (I'm always a couple of revisions behind) so I tend to fall back on it
when the going gets tough.

There are three methods I use:

Corel Trace and clean up the entire drawing.
Manual trace and clean up as you go.
Import bitmap and create a new drawing on another layer. Delete the bitmap
when finished.

In any case, It will import/export HPGL and DXF files. It will also function
as fairly decent CAD package with wide import/export capabilities.
