Hey Kim,
I happened to see a screw cover that was interesting and may help....imagine
if you rolled a strip of fairly heavy plastic sheet about 1-1/2" wide by
about 6' length into a roll with its ID just larger than your screw, then
pulled the middle out to (1) end while on the screw, and attached it to the
screw end. Keep it taught and attach the other end to nut. Now the
overlapping pieces slide together and apart, but if arranged correctly they
compact into their original roll or nearly so, at the shortest travel, and
expand to retain a fairly tight seal at the other end. If this doesn't make
sense let me know, but it is how I intend to try and keep my setup clean.
Hope this helps. It's likely easier and cheaper than an accordian type
setup you mentioned and can be custom fabricated.
