I've ordered (and received) a bunch of Linux distributions from Linux Systems
Labs (http://www.lsl.com), and am in the process of loading them one at a
time and writing out instructions on how to get the EMC running on each. That
said, Tim is right about using RH5.2 if you want to get a machine going
today. Tim's script reduces the 5.2 installation to a nearly infallible
procedure. If you need a 5.2 CD, post to the list and I'll see what I can do
to get you one. Right now, I'm struggling to get going with RH6.1 (and I'm
really eager to try Corel 1.0) because I think it's important to move the EMC
to the latest, greatest versions. I've got RH6.1 installed and the RTL2.0
kernel and modules and the 15-Mar EMC installed OK. Once I get my .ini file
straightened out I'll be in good shape I think. I need to test the
backplotter on the new version also... There's not too much left to do, but
we're not quite there yet either.

P.S. GeorgeF's observation that future EMC installations will be possible on
most distributions is correct (I think) from what I've observed so far, but
I'm going to make sure with this stack of CDs.
