Carl, Stock Drive Products has pinion stock that can be machined to what
you need, basically a 6" long pinion. Best bet to gauge pressure angle
is with a pitch gauge, if you have a decent bearing house nearby,
chances are they have one, though I know I saw one in brownings catalog.
One thing to keep in mind is to use a larger pitch diameter pinion to
minimize sliding forces between pinion and rack, I use 1.25" (1.25 x pi
= approx 3.96") for a 32 pitch rack it would be a 40 tooth gear. then
you can reduce to get your desired feed/rev. What is the application? (
I assume router...)
