I had a similar problem, I had 2500 count encoders (10,000 in
quadrature) on a mill with .2 pitch (ok, metric, so not *exactly* .2
pitch) ballscrews. Thus I needed about 50,000 steps per inch, or
100khz pulses for 120ipm rapids.

I talked to Marris and went with the G340 and its internal x2,x5, or
x10 step multiplier. Works like a charm!
