Quadurature count is 4 times encoder count = 4 * 500 = 2000 pulses
per rotation. If your leadscrew is 10 turns per inch this = 10 * 2000
= 20,000 pulses (steps) per inch. If your motor is reduced 2:1 and
the encoder is on the motor (the one I'm using) this ups the count by
the ratio (20,000 * 2) = 40,000 pulses (steps) per inch.
Mach2 in present form would be hard pressed to make this run much
more than 60 ips. For me this is OK, its my tool change axis. I'm
also using a Gecko 340 which will let me divide this count by 2, 5 or
10.
