Afternoon!
I want to start purchasing cnc items to retro my JET Mill
[Bridgeport size]; and since I can't quite justify $1250.00 or so an
axis from Camsoft [example] and I see alot of items on ebay I figure
I could make 3 axis for the $1250.00 with reasonably proper
selections. I find it interesting that people know how to mix and
match, sorta like making a good tasting stew....I can boil the water,
but how much of what to put in I would be guessing at..so I will list
my questions numerically [pun] and hope they come out intellegent and
are usefull to others...
1) Axis Motors {will have 3}
a)NEMA42 is physical size and/or mounting flange?
b)DC Brush Servo, brand choices?
c)500 oz/in enough? For knee to be "Z"?
d)1000ppr Renco Encoder ok?
2) Servo Drives
a)Gecko or Rutex or Other?
b)Amount of power; more than required for motors better?
c)Incase of needing larger motors a consideration?
3) Power Supply?
a)Same brand as Drive; one for each drive or
one for all three?
4) PC
a)Sony-2gb processor-94gb hard drive-good start?
5) Next Choice
a) Control? Give me starting point direction!!!
b) My only stipulation at this point is that it would be
manually programable in a Fanuc [g-codes] or Protrak [word
translated g-codes] fashion and being able to use
one axis for incremental feed.
I know this maybe simple for some but have patience with me, I'm
just getting started!! Can E me if prefer, Thanks, Seb.
