You can just use the two AC terminals and the + terminal of
a bridge rectifier module if you don't want to fool with separate
diode components.
Only if the transformer has a "split" secondary, with 4 wires brought
out can you actually parallel the two winding halves to get double
the current at half the voltage. The circuit drawn above gives the
same benefit at DC, however, because each winding half only conducts
current half the time.
