HI Dave - List;
Proper filtering on your AC lines is a worthwhile endeavor as a number
of problems can be eliminated. Motor drives can generate much in the
way of interference with other hardware, interference which is often
dififcult to track down. In some situations, on commercial work, I've
had to resort to tracking filters and other techniques. So I wouldn't
look at AC filters as a blet and braces approach, it is more of a sound
engineering approach. Just as snubbing diodes across DC relays should
always be considered the norm. along with RC networks for AC relays.
Little inexpensive details like these, implemented up front, can
elimiante alot of debugging down the road.
