Hi Jerry,
When I said versions I meant versions within model numbers. They were
constantly upgrading and changing features for the better.
I have seen many of these machines and am amazed at the differences.
A friend has what must be a prototype 2000. Modified PCBs and all.
The motors are 100 step and too weak to survive real use.
I converted it for him, but still with the old motors. It's marginal
The 2400 is a far superior machine, better motors is all it needs and
a PC system. I have one now for myself to finish up.
The leadscrews are acme with a strange looking antibacklash nut.
The 2000 has a simple plastic spring opposed AB nut.
A friend has 3 2400's and uses them all. One is servo driven. Real smooth & quiet.
Having the serarate quill feed is a real boone for tool setting.
Does anyone have additional upgrades to these machines to share?
Are direct table drives (eliminate the plastic 10/1 gearing) worthwhile?
What minimum motor sizes are recommended?
Has anyone located a source for the toolholders?
