Mach 2 actually CAN read the encoders, you just need to set up the
encoders in a special way, the limiting factor, the parallel port can
only read inputs at about 25khz so you'll have to run a little slow,
somewhere in the area of 100IPM with a 500 CPR encoder whould give
solid results.
It cannot "read" the results into the program realtime but you
can "sync" the virtual DRO's with the actual from time to time.
It's just one of those seldom used features.
