Mc,

Some may tell you that you don't need a breakout board, but the truth is
that they do help and in most cases electrically isolate your PC ground from
your controller. The one that I sell was designed to work very closely with
Mach2. Mach2 has a charge pump feature that protects the outputs from coming
on before Mach2 gets control.

Look for a board that provides the 5 volts that is needed to power the
optical isolators in the Gecko drives and in your pac sci 6410 drives.

My board also provides 12 volts to power inductive proximity sensors.

One under appreciated feature of using optical isolators on the inputs from
limit switches is the elimination of false triggers. The optical isolators
in a sense eliminate the very fast transit triggers that cause a lot of
problems for some users.

You need to look at all the features on all the boards. Whatever you do, I
recommend that you buy a breakout board, as it will eliminate a lot of the
wiring that always seems to get out of control in you control box.
