Charge pump is a very nice feature found in Mach2. If used properly, it
prevents your outputs to things like power to spindles from coming on when
Mach2 does not have control.
Optical isolation when using the Gecko type drives is important as it allows
you to separate your grounds. You want the PC ground to be separate from
your controller ground.
On input optical isolation is also important. One added benefit for limit
switches is that an optical isolator will help eliminate the false triggers
that some users have a problem with.
