Someone posted this link for a nesting program, either here or in
Ballendo's group, a month or so ago. I downloaded it and played
with it a while, and it seems to work fine.
http://www.most2d.com/standard.htm Since that was more than 30
minutes ago, I don't remember all the details, but I think it has an
integral shape library for lots of common shapes that would show up
on a burning machine, plus the ability to import shape files and
nest them as well. I read a post in one of the groups a while back
where a guy said he spent quite a while manually nesting parts, and
thought he had an efficient layout, but when he ran the same parts
thru a commercial nesting program, it fit the same parts in 2/3 of
the material as compared to his best effort. That makes the price
of nesting software look far more reasonable than it might seem at
first glance if you cut much material. Also, have you tried the bob-
wire program from Bob-cad? I have no idea whether it's any good or
not, but since you're already familiar with bobcad and its quirks,
it might be worth a look. I think it came out about the same time
as their release 16, so it may not have as many bugs as some of
their later "improved" software.
