Here are some pictures of the motors and encoders. They look easy enough to
disassemble, but the screws are paited white, apparently as a deterrent. I'm willing to give
it a shot though.

In a previous post they mentioned these 10 pin Renco encoders have
been used with Electrocraft servos (http://www.renco.com/106021.htm#02
); I think I'll try the pin out described here. Anything's worth a shot.
