I'm not sure either, but the solenoid is not air activated. Electricity
operates it allowing air to pass through or not pass through - with air
being the result, not the cause, so to speak. Having air pressure activate
the brake instead of the other way around makes sense, but how does that
explain the fact that the mill will not function if air doesn't reach the
brake? Of course, it could be more than that. When mine wasn't working
for lack of air pressure, the air wasn't getting to the spindle speed
control either. There again, the air only changes the speed. It doesn't
make the speed happen. All I know is the spindle motor would not work
after homing when the air pressure was not sufficient.
