This one is an old Bridgeport retrofitted with a 1J head. So, it has
the standard
R-8 collet. The item I was machining was about 6" of 1" round, so it was no
big deal to hold it in an end mill holder. I'd already made a split
collar with
an internal thread to hold these parts.
