Re: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Re: "Smaller" CNC lathe

Since posting this email, on different groups, I've received a few direct emails and have done some googling, both pointing me to machines that would work for me. The current list of hopefuls is...
- MaxNC T2. Discount Campus sells a stepper version of this for $1469. Interesting thing is that it has multiple toolposts on the long carriage so it effectively becomes an automatic tool-changer.
- Denford Microturn 2000 (don't have pricing yet), but the enclosure and software seems nice.
- Denford Novaturn (don't have pricing yet). Same as above, but have a tool-changer option.
- Accuram. Converted mini-lathe. $3995 includes servos, but apparently not available
- Liberty Enterprises has a CNC lathe, but I don't have pricing yet. They also claim that they will convert MY crossslide for CNC and include steppers, controllers etc for $695.
- Microkinetics. Their 12x36 is much larger and priced at almost $8000, but they have a CNC Sherline converted for extra capacity. I'm avoiding this because of the aluminium construction, etc.
- EMCO makes machines in this class, but are waaaayyy too expensive.

I also found a website called desktopcnc.com that lists/compares a bunch of these (and more).

I'll post more when I get more data on these, but for now I have high hopes for the MaxNC T2. If anyone here has used this brand/model, I'd really appreciate a brief review. BTW, I had also started converting my HF 7x12, but making the parts to mount the stepper on the crossslide has stopped that project. Also then found out about thrust bearings, but could not find much info on how/what/if to use those.

Cheers,
-Neil.

I've been looking myself and have not found any. If you find one
please let me know. I am in the process of making one (homier 7X12)
myself. I'll let the group know of my progress.
