You CANNOT get the 5 volt from the parallel port.

You CAN get it from the USB or pin #1 of the game port. Considder
that your PC and your new enclosure both have the 15 pin, wide, game
port. all you need to do is make a cable to connect those to bring
in the PC 5 volt. Very clean.

As to the question of current ratings for the 5 volt. The PC power
supply will have the same rating as the old PC power supply so you
should be able to use either.

As to the current limit and the best way to wire Gecko's, I would
recomend you get that information from Mariss.
