Hold up here. Pin numbers are different on the 9 pin AT comm port. I will
make up a crossref tomorrow at work.

I think 9 pin serial mice use just 2, 3, 7 equivlent 9 pin numbers. so thats
why it worked with 2-3 jumpered.

Next step I would do is jumper 4-5 and 6-8-20 on the indexer and connect 2
and 3 up. If no response then reverse 2 and 3 at the indexer and try again.

If no response then you need a LED status block so you can see what the
status of 2 and 3 are.

do you know the baud, data bits, stop bits and parity that the Indexer is
set for? HyperTerm must be set the same for any hope of communicating.

You have made some progress as we know that the loopback works.Signing off
tonight but will be back off and on tomorrow. Where are you located?? I am
in Quincy, IL 100 miles north of St. Louis.
