Looking at the schematic, you have 4 encoders. each goes to a 7414
that then goes to two pins on the parallel port.

Each also goes to a network that takes all the outputs down to a
couple pins on the parallel port.

Is that network to trigger the software to update ?

Since I will probably just connect an encoder and spin it one
revolution to see the count I don't need too much sophistacation.(sp?)
