Hello Bubba,

I enjoyed your dro setup. You know old but functional computers are
"cheaper than dirt". Why don't you add a couple of chips to the parallel
port and do a three axis setup for the newbies. There are tons of small
cheap dc motors with encoders attached available. This setup with a pulse
setup on the spindle could give x,y, z and spindle rpm display on an old
monitor. In fact on the cross slide on a lathe a wire setup would be much
less bulky than a digital scale setup. Any way it gave me some ideas on
using a wire driven encoder with plain old dc motors for servo drive.
