Actually it's not CAM that outputs the pulses.
You draw your part in CAD, then use CAM to develop the paths the tool has to
take to produce the finished part. Then you post that information (most
often as G-code) to the controller (Fanuc, Mach2/3, T-CNC, Heidenhein, EMC
etc). The controller then reads that information and outputs the pulses to
the motordrives.

I guess you know that Dave, just wanted to make it clear for Chad.
