A 20v transformer would get me 28vdc, if I
have the math right, which is close enough. Where can I get one (or
2) of these.
Monte: If that 24 V transformer you have is wound on nylon bobbins (not
all wound up in Kraft paper and soaked in Formvar), you can simply remove some
turns, re-connect the wire, and you got it! You can tell how MANY turns to
remove by poking a bit of magnet-wire through the core and around two or four
times, then measure the voltage across that "winding", with the transformer
powered (be sure and insulate the loose secondary lead-wire ends!). Then,
the "volts/turn" is the voltage read divided by the number of turns you wound
in. There is USUALLY some "light" showing through the iron core near the
winding; enough to fish through two or four turns. Takes some common sense.
