If you want to build a similar coupling, you can use a slitting saw in
your mill, and cut 8 slots such that you get 4 slots at 0 deg and 4 at 90
deg. the slots are left about .025 from sawing the coupler in half, and are
spaced about .035 apart. this gives the device rotational rigidity, out of
position flexibility, a bit of angular flexibility and a small amount of
thrust flex.
how about asci art???

be sure you turn the shaft receiving holes in the ends of the coupling
before you cut your slots. I designed mine with a .250 dia hole clean
through, but this is not necessary. The thru hole increases the amount of
thrust flex you will get. I use 6-32 set screws to lock in the shafts, but I
am sure a clamp style adapter could be designed. I built a few before I
found the right amount of flex for my system. Its very cheap, so I did not
mind.
I have been using this type of poor mans flex coupling on a small servo
system, and have been happy.
hope this helps people,
