10uM is about 0.0005 inches ?? that should be pretty easy.
If you do not have a table, and can stand a pretty large base, you can
purchase an X/Y table from for $100 plus shipping.
a couple motors at 200 steps each on the 10 TPI lead screw is 2,000
steps per inch or 10uM
use a microstepper and presto! bettter than that.
those tables can be found at ENCO.com or Grizzly.com or others.
should be less than $100.00
You may find something on e-bay that is much smaller and comes with
motors or at least mounts for around the same $$
